Maximize Your LinkedIn Today Experience

Have you seen LinkedIn's new feature? Launched in March 2010, LinkedIn Today is a news aggregation service that serves up content based your industry preferences and popularity of the article. There are plenty of sites that serve up popular content based on "sharing" (like StumbleUpon, Digg and Reddit to name a few) but offering this technology within LinkedIn is great for marketers.

PUBLISH IT!

The value to marketers comes into play when sharing original QUALITY published content. Yes, you can do a targeted LinkedIn PPC campaign but wouldn't it better to have your blog post/article featured on the home page of LinkedIn Today? If you publish quality information and your peers share it because it's valuable to their business then that's great exposure for you and your business.

SHARE IT!

Take it one step further and add a LinkedIn share button to every page of content on your website, making it easy for people to share within the LinkedIn network. Get the LinkedIn Widget HERE

If you do decide to share an article, I'd recommend adding a personal comment. What did you learn? Why are you sharing the article? Positioning yourself in your network as someone who
has influence is a good thing. And, I must admit, easier in SOME industries than others. For instance, aren't we ALL Internet marketing gurus these days? *wink*

USE IT!
The share feature has some neat bells and whistles, for instance, you can sort shares by company, industry or location. Making it easy to see what content is resonating with your network and your locale. A good topic to bring up at your next networking event, perhaps? I know a lot of my associates start their day with a quick review of LinkedIn Today headlines to get a better sense of industry buzz.

Have you tried LinkedIn Today? How do you use it?

What is Article Marketing?

'Article Marketing' is a good subject, and one that you will need to become very familiar with in the months and years to come as you develop and grow your Internet business.

Here is a good directory to submit your articles to:
http://newdaddy1.bryxen7.hop.clickbank.net

That's my affiliate link. It will be yours too, of course. In fact, this is a good time to make an important point: you can NEVER have too many legitimate affiliate programs if you intend to either supplement your income with online marketing or do this full-time.

Anyway, back to article marketing. That link I just gave you has a decent free version that fits with my Free 30-day Success System. You can find it at the top of this blog's first page - upper right corner.

Now, technically, this really isn't a good topic for the high-speed GDI Gold Rush concept (which is a component of my system). But, then again, it is. Here's the truth about article marketing: It takes a long time, but you need to do it.

What I mean by that is, you can submit your article to lots and lots of directories but it takes time for them to be accepted and approved. It takes even longer for them to be discovered by the 'web-crawlers', and it takes even longer still for that to result in readers who will check out your linked site. But you know what? It works! Yes, article marketing is an excellent way to drive traffic to your site - LONG TERM - and it's worth it.

You see, part of the problem with explaining the ins and outs of building a real online business is that most people don't want to hear it. What they want to know is, how many thousands they are going to receive in the next 90 days and if they are going to have to 'do' anything. Those are the two things that they want to know.

Hopefully, that doesn't apply to you. However, you do need to think past the initial 30-day effort in my Success System. You are going to need to start laying some markers, setting some beacons and establishing the foundation of a long-term BUSINESS that you will build and grow like any other business. And that involves article marketing.

Did you know that you don't even have to write the articles yourself? Article ghost writers are a dime a dozen. Just use Google. They're easy to find. Same thing for software that generates articles for you. If you want to go that route, it's not a problem but you DO need to produce some articles.

So what does all this mean? Let me sum it up. What you do is generate a short piece (which can range from 5 or 6 paragraphs to as many pages) on a topic related to your sales page. Then you simply link to your sales page at the bottom of the article. That's it. That's all there is to it. In fact, this blog post is an 'article'.

Like I said, you can write them yourself or have someone else write them for you. This isn't hard. The KEY is your link at the end of the article. Your link at the end of the thing is the whole point of the thing.

Article marketing is a big, big deal. Do yourself a favor, do a little research and look into it. It's a must.
